Get Rid of Cluster Flies from the Attic, Loft or Bedroom

Cluster Flies live outdoors in the late Spring and Summer but may come indoors, usually in attics, lofts or roof spaces in the Autumn to hibernate in warmer areas such as under loft insulation.

Cluster flies *cluster* together during the colder months to increase the likely hood of survival during hibernation. To aid this survival, cluster flies leave a scent trail to attract other cluster flies into the same space. Consequently, with huge numbers of cluster flies entering roof voids, some may emerge in to rooms below through ceiling lights etc., and cause a big problem.

During the Autumn and Winter periods, cluster flies may emerge on warmer, sunnier days and can often be seen on the South and West facing outside walls of houses.

Cluster flies usually choose the same roof voids each year, attracted by the scent trail left in previous years and therefore control of cluster flies in lofts etc., is necessary.
